Rumbatá Beat Band

Once again percussionist Jaime Rodríguez will revive his legendary latin beat formation Rumbatá, this time with Dutch musicians of the new generation.

Rumbatá was founded in Rotterdam in 1990 and only a few years became very successful in the international latin scene, as far as Miami and Columbia. Rumbatá was especially appreciated for their original approach of Latin American music, with influences of jazz and swing. The band members lived in The Netherlands, but came from all over the world. In 2009, when Rumbatá evolved into a 22-piece big band, the group ended when government funding stopped.

Now Rodríguez is back with the more compact Rumbatá Beat Band, which music can be described as latin beat. The basis is Latin American music which is mixed with strong contemporary pop and jazz beats and rhythms. The line-up is formed by the core of Rumbatá, added with musicians of the younger generation.
